The moms, grandmas, and aunts- we know you love them, but they may drive you a little crazy during the wedding planning process.

Follow along to learn some tips and tricks on how to keep the "helping meddlers" busy and off your back, in the most loving way!

Keeping the "Helping Meddlers" busy in a few easy steps:

  1. Have a vision and stick to it. Talk to your fiancé and know what the two of you want for your big day. Then, go to your families and share the vision you have come up with. If your family starts to bombard you with their opinions and it becomes overwhelming, don't be afraid to say that the two of you have already discussed and created the plan. It's okay to stay grounded in your decisions!

  2. Give them a job or responsibility. Most of the time your family means well, they just want to help relieve your stress! Giving them a specific job such as making cupcakes or desserts for your wedding or rehearsal may be a useful thing for them to help with. Just something to let them feel like they are in control or helping with something!

  3. Shape your expectations. You don't have to tell them every single detail.

  4. Create a list. Create a list of jobs or duties you can pass on to your family members. Staying organized and having your thoughts written out can help you stick to what you say.

  5. Leave room for their Ideas! Just because you know what you want doesn't mean your parents or other family members have bad ideas. Listening to what they have to say can help to prevent a lot of tension along the way. Especially if they are helping pay for part of your wedding. Maybe your mom or aunt has a great idea for the seating chart. Family members can also play "devil's advocate" to help you with your ideas.

Breathe! Everything is going to be okay!

XOXO,
